Family budgets and allocations
The family budget
Section titled “The family budget”Create a budget with Type Family (see Create a budget). Everyone in the family sees it; the Owner and Budget Admins edit it. On the Budgets page, the Personal / Family toggle switches between your own budgets and the family’s.
Family savings goals work the same way and are funded by family budgets.
Give someone their own budget, funded by the family
Section titled “Give someone their own budget, funded by the family”Say the family budget has $400 a month for Kids and you want your teenager to manage $150 of it themselves.
From the family budget: open the category’s menu and choose Make Personal Budget. Pick who it’s For, a Budget Name and the Allocation, then tap Create Personal Budget. The member now has their own budget, and that amount comes out of the family category.
From the Create Budget sheet: when a member creates their own budget, Fund from your family can draw from an Existing category or a + New family category, or choose No family funding.
Only the Owner and Budget Admins can fund a budget from the family.
Whose budget a card counts toward
Section titled “Whose budget a card counts toward”On the Accounts page, each account in a family has a Feeds dropdown: Family budget, or a specific member. Pick your teenager for their debit card and its spending lands in their budget instead of the family’s. The Owner and Budget Admins can change this.
