Rollover, transfers and ready to assign
Remaining on a regular category
Section titled “Remaining on a regular category”For a category that isn’t count-up, remaining is the period amount plus anything rolled over, minus what you’ve spent. The category is marked near its limit at 80% and over budget at 100%.
Rollover
Section titled “Rollover”With Allow Rollover on, what’s left at the end of the period carries into the next one. An overspend carries too, as a negative starting balance. With rollover off, every period starts at the full amount.
Max Rollover caps how much can build up, as a multiple of the category amount (from 0.1× to 10×). Anything above the cap can go to a savings goal; otherwise it’s dropped.
Reset Rollover on a category, or Reset All Rollovers from the budget menu, clears carried balances.
Moving money
Section titled “Moving money”Tap a category for these actions:
- Transfer Funds moves budget from one category to another, for when groceries ran over and entertainment didn’t.
- Transfer to Savings moves a category’s balance to a savings goal.
Ready to assign
Section titled “Ready to assign”The summary card at the top of a budget compares income with what you’ve given to categories:
- “Every dollar has a job” when they match.
- “$X ready to assign” when income is higher: that money has no category yet.
- “$X over-assigned” when categories add up to more than income.
The line is hidden until the budget has income. Income comes from your income categories, using whichever is higher of what you expected and what actually arrived.
