Savings goals
Open the Savings tab and tap New Goal.
Fields
Section titled “Fields”- Goal Name and an optional Description.
- Target Amount, and Amount Already Saved if you’ve started.
- Goal Type: Personal, or Family if you’re in a family (family goals need Premium).
- Monthly Allocation: a percentage or a fixed amount of your leftover budget that goes to this goal each period.
- Held in account (optional): the bank account the money actually sits in.
- Count withdrawals toward budget: whether taking money out of the goal counts as spending.
Adding money
Section titled “Adding money”- Add Funds on a goal records a contribution.
- Transfer to Savings on a budget category moves that category’s balance to a goal.
- A count-up category set to Transfer to Savings at period end sends its leftovers automatically.
- At the end of each period, every active goal also receives its Monthly Allocation share of what’s left of your budget. Personal budgets fund personal goals and family budgets fund family goals.
Buoy records these amounts; it never moves money between your bank accounts.
Tracking
Section titled “Tracking”The Savings page shows Total Saved, Active Goals and Completed. Open a goal to see Saved, Target, Remaining, the Target Date, and how much a day you’d need to reach it in time.
