Delete your BuoyAI account

Option 1 — In the app (fastest)

1. Open BuoyAI and go to Profile / Settings.
2. Tap Delete Account.
3. Confirm. Your account and data are deleted right away.

Option 2 — Request deletion without the app

Email privacy@buoy-ai.com from the email address on your BuoyAI account, with the subject “Delete my account.” We verify that you own the account and then permanently delete everything within 30 days (usually much sooner) and email you a confirmation.

What gets deleted

• Your account, profile, and login credentials (password, Google / Apple sign-in links, passkeys, and two-factor settings).
• All financial data: connected accounts, transactions, budgets, savings goals, and categories.
• Your bank connections — access tokens are revoked at Plaid, so the link is cut off on their side too.
• Your billing profile: any active subscription is cancelled and your Stripe customer record is deleted.
• AI insights and conversation history, gamification progress, notifications, and analytics tied to your account.
• If you own a family plan, it is dissolved; other members keep their own individual accounts.

A few things we can’t control

Our payment processor (Stripe) and bank-linking provider (Plaid) keep their own limited records under their retention policies and applicable law — for example, Stripe retains certain transaction records for tax and anti-fraud compliance. We revoke access and delete your customer record with them as part of deletion, but their independent retention is governed by their policies.
